You will find answers to questions you never know you had at the Knight-Sutton Museum and Research Center. Months of research has taken museum director, Pat Rodriques on a deep dive into the history of Akron/Newstead. The current exhibit “Landmarks and Legacies” is the result of her hard work and is now open for everyone to enjoy and learn from.
One focus of the exhibit is on local generational businesses. For example, did you know a Mynah bird lived at the Pixley's store at 53 Cedar Street and then at the Buell Street location in the early 60's? Do you remember his name? Do you know how many chickens Kreher Farms started out with? Can you guess how many they have today? The answers all reside at the Knight-Sutton Museum which is located on 123 Main St. Akron.
The exhibit will be open on the first and third Sunday of every month till the end of October from 1- 3 PM. In addition, it will be open every Wednesday from 10 AM till 1PM.
There will be a short scavenger hunt available of questions and all the answers are in the exhibit. All correct responses will be entered into a drawing for a gift certificate to a local vendor. For more information, please find us on Facebook.
